Finally, I bought Line 6’s Guitar Port after finding out that it has gone on sale.

First off, this guitar gadget is really going to help you record ideas quickly. Connecting it to my laptop, I’m now recording some ideas and occasional jams. Some of it I have shared with some friends. I hope to upload them soon here.

The new Guitar Port now uses the GearBox software, which I believe is an upgrade from the previous software. It provides a good set of virtual cabinets and stomp boxes, which you can play with. What is more interesting is the tone library. You can go and search for a specific tone of a favorite guitar player or a specific song. Then by simply clicking on a downloadable tone, you’re guitar suddenly transforms into something else.

Line6 has really done a good work emulating different tones from various stomp boxes and cabinets. Add to that, Guitar Port online offers a 30-day free trial of its online service. You can download some lessons, and even tracks (backing and full track) of some favorite songs.

So far, that’s what I got. I will have more soon.
