Kent Carlevi is a “headless” Van Halen fan who plays like Eddie. He has a series of videos, mostly, er, Van Halen tunes. What’s good about his headless videos is that you get to see him play up close. He has placed a video camera at the end of the guitar neck, just after the nut. This gives you a good point of view of the neck, the fretboard, and his right hand strumming, picking and doing dive-bombs with the whammy bar. Cool!

Here’s a sample:

His one of this year’s Guitar Idol Finalists. He’s from Thailand and he can play a mean, Joe Satriani-like piece.

Here he is again, playing a new song.

Surfing with an Alien is one of the most classic guitar piece to date. It encapsulates Joe Satriani’s signature style of dive bombs, harmonics, and bluesy riffs combined with legato runs. You will also see those tapped notes using the edge of a pick to create a unique trill, which when combined with tapped notes make a nasty run of notes.

I just love this cover. Howaiti you rock, man!

Gustavo Guerro won this year’s Guitar Idol 2008 of Lick Library.
